Hidden Traffic Sources

If you’re reading this I’m betting that you probably already know about a lot of the traditional marketing methods… article marketing, guest posting, press releases, affiliate programs, blog commenting, social bookmarking, video marketing, pay-per-click, etc…

This article isn’t going to talk about any of those methods. Although all of those strategies can be extremely powerful, I would like to go outside the box a little – revealing unique traffic strategies you’ve probably never heard of before. So, let’s get started…

We’ll start with some of my favorites.

I-am-bored.com – If you have content that’s cool and interesting then i-am-bored.com is the place to submit it. You can get thousands of visitors from this site in a matter of days. It’s not unusual for this site to send up to 20,000 visitors or more.

The key is to be creative with your content. Quizzes, photos, videos, and interesting articles all seem to do well.

Here are some of the most popular titles currently on the site:

16 Superhero Secret Identities: Name ’em All (Quiz)
12 Worst Photoshop Mistakes Ever (photos)
99 Extraordinary Uses for Ordinary Objects (article)
10 Strangest First and Last Names (article with pictures)
The 10 Most Innovative Bathrooms From Around the World (article with photos)
5 Superpowers Science Will Give Us in Our Lifetime (article w/ pictures)
#1 Reaon NOT to Buy a Wii Fit for Your Boyfriend (YouTube Video)

All of these stories received over 20,000 visitors.

Quick Hint: If you noticed, one of those links was a YouTube video. If you have an interesting video that you want to go viral, I-am-bored is an excellent place to seed it. If it’s good, you can quickly get the momentum you need for the video to go viral.

There are also a number of similar sites to I-am-bored.com where you can submit your content. Here are some of the other sites that can send 1,000’s of visitors:

Here’s another one of my favorite traffic techniques that I’ve seen very few people take advantage of.

Coregcomplete.com – This hidden gem provides you with the software to run co-registration on your own web site. They also help you find partners who will show your offer on their websites.

Coregistration is when you partner with related newsletter publications and promote each others ezine on your “thank you for subscribing” page. This way, you are both getting more opt-in subscribers every day.

Co-Reg Complete provides the software so that you don’t have to worry about the technical details. Plus, they’re incredibly helpful in finding partners for your site.

This is a form of integrated marketing. And there are a wide variety of ways you can incorporate integrated marketing besides exchanging opt-ins on your “thank you” page.

You can also exchange emails within your autoresponder. You can exchange articles or banners. The possibilities are endless.

Another traffic source that few people tap into is NewsVine.com. NewsVine is a social news site that can deliver anywhere from 500 to 2,000+ visitors. But like any social media site, you need to get active in the community for your content to succeed.

YCombinator is another social news site that can send thousands of visitors your way. However, few people have discovered the power of this site. But hey, I guess that’s a good thing for those of us in the know.
