Every episode will be rapid-fire. 10-minutes of actionable strategies that you can use to grow your business.
So without further ado, let’s dive into our very first 10 minutes of marketing…
One of the biggest questions I get asked is how to promote your latest blog post. So in today’s episode I’m going to teach you my top 7 strategies for promoting your latest blog post. You can use this as a checklist to ensure that you get at least 1,000 visitors to EVERY new blog post.
How to Promote Your Latest Blog Post…
1. Send an email to your subscriber list.
In online marketing, your email list is KING. We personally use our subscriber list to generate around 2,000 visitors PER email.
Your business should be BUILT on email. Building a community of raving fans who look forward to your next email.
So your first step is to email your existing subscriber base. By creating consistent content for your subscribers, you’re able to build trust, authority, and a long-term relationship with your
Remember, every sale is BUILT on trust. You have to earn it by giving good value FIRST.
2. Share your blog post on your social media platforms.
The big 3 here include Twitter, Facebook, and Google Plus.
* Schedule to go out multiple times on Twitter & Google Plus.
Schedule your blog post to be published at least 4-5 times throughout the week. You can automate this using a tool like BufferApp.
This also allows you to test out different headlines and hooks.
I recommend sharing your post twice on Facebook and Google Plus.
Facebook – Link post. (Make sure you have a good feature image.)
Then you can share it again a few days later on Facebook with a different photo and a different hook.
Sharing a post on Google Plus:
* Large, high-quality photo. (Eye candy is important on Google Plus)
* Add a few popular hashtags.
* Format your post. *bold* _italic_
* Tag people who are mentioned in the article.
The optimal image size for Google Plus is 800 pixels w x 1200 pixels h
This vertical image stands out and will get you a TON of virtual real estate in the Google Plus news feed.
3. Share in Twitter Tribes like JustRetweet.com and Triberr.com.
JustRetweet is a social sharing community. It’s essentially a huge blogging alliance that works together to promote each other’s content.
This is a super simple strategy for getting your first 20-30 retweets and Facebook likes. Which will immediately kick off your first bit of momentum.
4. Share on Google Plus Communities.
Google Plus should be a BIG priority in your content marketing strategy. It’s actually one of our top traffic sources. Our latest post (top 60 WordPress Plugins) received over 1,000 visitors directly from Google Plus.
Social media is now playing a bigger role in SEO and where your page ranks in Google.
Google Plus Communities are really the secret sauce to getting a lot of traffic on Google Plus.
They’re basically like mini-forums. And they allow you to position yourself directly in front of your target prospects.
In fact, many of these communities have thousands of followers.
But like all communities, the key is to provide VALUE first.
Don’t just start dropping links. You’ll be the black sheep of the family.
Instead – start engaging with the community FIRST. Comment. Vote up OTHER people’s content. Share OTHER people’s blog posts. Start interesting conversations.
By doing this, you’ll build up social equity. You’ll become an authority within the market and you’ll now have EARNED the opportunity to share your content.
So that whenever you have a really great piece of content, you can share it in 4-5 popular Google Plus Communities.
This topic could honestly be an entire podcast episode, so we might go into further detail in a later episode.
5. Setup Facebook Ads.
Facebook ads are one of the fastest ways to amplify your content and grow your audience.
Simply choose 3-5 highly related fan pages that your post will be promoted to. Create an eye-catching image and target the News Feed (Desktop Only).
This is the ‘audience’ that will see your post.
6. Convert your article into an audio that you can stream via iTunes, SoundCloud, and Stitcher Radio.
Sites like iTunes and Stitcher are opening up entirely new audiences that you can tap into. It’s one of the best (still fairly untapped ways) to expland the reach of your content.
And finally, step number 7…
7. Blogger Outreach
Send 25-100 personalized emails to the top bloggers and social media influencers in your niche.
This is the exact strategy I use to generate AT LEAST 1,000+ visitors to every new blog post
we create. 25 emails will usually get you about 1,000 visitors (as long as you have good content).
Send a few more though and you’ll start building a social media snowball.
